Economist, Historian | Former Professor at Università degli Studi di Milano - Sciences of History and Historical Records

He graduated in History of Economics in Turin in 1971, with a master in Ergonomics in the following year. He was a professor and researcher at the London School of Economics and Political Science, at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and at the University of Buenos Aires.
He was Directeur d’études at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris.
He is former Full Professor at the Univerità degli Studi di Milano, where the taught Political Economy. He worked as a researcher, professor and consultant at Olivetti and Eni, where he was member of the Board from 1996 to 2002. He was President of the Fondazione Monte dei Paschi di Siena from 2000 to 2001. From the following year to 2009 he was member of the Board of Unicredit Banca d’Impresa. From 1993 to 1995 he was the Italian representative of Transparency International. He’s part of World’s Petroleum Council since 2002, a non-governmental international organisation, whose goal is to promote a sustainable use and management of oil resources.
